Photos on my Facebook Fan Page
I focused on taking pics of the Sideshow area of the exhibition because that is where the majority of my work was displayed. But the Sideshow was a very small portion – it was a big show! The 3 Ring Circus and Sideshow were on the first floor but on the second and third floors were other exhibitions as well. Briony Morrow Cribbs prints are wonderful by the way.
And in the conjoined room on the first floor were tons of circus related food, costumed characters, and face painting. My boyfriend went crazy on the miniature hot dogs.
I loved the way Janet Van Fleet put the show together and I was really happy to be invited. It was fun, festive, and the three rings had so much detail and activity going on… you have to see it in person. Now of course I kick myself for capturing such a small part of it. Hopefully you can get a wee idea from the photos in my Facebook set.
Here’s video of the Sideshow area that was sort of sectioned off from the rest of the show:

just returned from viewing your 2 dolls in the Jacksonville, Ill gallery – WOW! – comments were very interesting from those standing near me – this pair is horribly wonderful – I should have written down their titles – I wished to purchase them – but felt they needed a special environment – I would hope you would continue with this series concept – they were named observers # 1 and 2 or something like that – I could not process the names
Lisa, the pieces are called “The Unexpected Attendee.” I may keep the title since I like the feeling it evokes but then again the name may change. I am working on several of these figures; I really like the work I am doing with them so I want to create more. You mentioned a ’special environment’ – I am working on some that will be in display boxes. The 2 at this show were teasers. Oh to be a fly on the wall. I would have loved to hear the comments. The gallery has informed me that they have sold one. So if you are interested in the other you may want to contact them pronto. I just can’t promise when I will have more available yet.
I wish I could have seen the exhibition, it must have been amazing!
