This is so wonderful! I’ll be really interested to know how your studio goes. I had a studio for about 2 years a couple of suburbs away from where I lived, it was nice to have a dedicated spot (for years I’ve been using my bedroom or the loungeroom floor) and it was great to be able to leave big things drying on the table for hours or days at a time, but at the same time I found that around 8pm at night I’d think “oh, I should make X” and then realise that about half of what I needed was at the studio. Such a pain!
My preferred option would be a craft room in the house I live in (or a cosy shed down the garden!), but I have to wait until I live in a big enough house for that. At the moment I’m back to the living room floor.
Sayrah, I am interested to see where it goes too! Like you, I have worked from my home – and typically a main area in my home. I am worried about the late hours because I do tend to work quite late at night but I plan to have some materials that I keep at home so I can work if need to. This is my first time trying something like this so I’m curious if it will work out for me or not.
How exciting to have a dedicated work space! And the venue looks incredible! I have a studio in a collective environment and it is truly inspirational to work amidst other artists and creative types.
I happened upon your website & blog through some convoluted internet rabbit hole and I am convinced we used to be friends on livejournal a million years ago. Whether or not my recollection is faulty, I’m so happy to have found you. I absolutely love your dolls!
