I am excited to announce that I will be offering a 2 day doll workshop this summer at Davis Studio in Burlington, Vermont.
There is a limit of 8 spots for this weekend workshop so please register ASAP before spots fill. If you have any questions at all, feel free to email me at info at strange dolls.net.
Intro to Doll Making (Strange Doll-Style)
Adult and Teen Class (ages 15+)
2 day weekend workshop
Date: Saturday & Sunday, July 13-14
Time: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Location: Davis Studio, 4 Howard Street, Studio Two, Burlington, VT / Google Maps
Cost: $225.00 (materials are included in the cost)
You will be guided through making the body of your doll using polymer clay and fabric. You will also learn how to sculpt a face and create the head of your doll. The clay pieces will be cured overnight.
Learn the secrets of professionally assembling the parts you have created. Sew the skirt and blouse, paint details on the face, add hair and any other desired embellishments. You will leave this workshop with a finished polymer clay art doll.
The studio will provide all sculpting tools, sewing machines, polymer clay, doll hair and other basic supplies.
There will be a one hour break for lunch on both days. The studio is conveniently located near Speeder and Earl’s coffee shop as well as a variety of sandwich shops in the event you want to eat out or need a snack.
NOTE: Please consider bringing small amounts of your favorite fabrics, trims and tiny buttons to add a personal touch to your creation or feel free to use fabrics we have available in the studio. This class is designed for beginners, so you do not need any prior experience sculpting or using polymer clay, but it would be helpful if you have some familiarity with using a sewing machine for simple straight stitches. The studio has several machines, but if you prefer to bring your own sewing machine please feel free to do so.
